Actor Chris Pine wants to get back into Captain Kirk’s shoes and hopes to do so with the Stark Trek version of Tarantino.
Star Trek is one of the most popular science fiction franchises. So in 2009, Paramount wanted to continue to build on its popularity and introduce it to a new audience. From the hand of JJ Abrams, two sequels to this installment were released. With considerable success and a January universe to explore, everything indicated that they would continue to release films. But for now, the saga is on hold. Although its star, Chris Pine knows who to bet on to continue it.
The actor is currently promoting Wonder Woman 1984 in which he returns as Steve Trevor. But Chris Pine has had time to talk about other projects during an interview with ComicBook. Pine is looking forward to taking command of the SS Enterprise once again. Star Trek Beyond was released in 2016 and since then the future of the saga is quite uncertain. But Chris Pine thinks that the idea of Tarantino would be very entertaining and it would work in the cinema.
“I haven’t read any scripts yet. I’d like to know something about Star Trek. I am one of the people who always find out about everything afterward. I haven’t read the script, nor do I know what stage of development it is in, nor have I read Noah Hawley’s script. But I love the character, the universe, and my friends. If Quentin decides to do it it would be very interesting and entertaining. Whatever happens, whether I come back or not, it’s a great universe and it deserves a future. I hope that is the case.
At the moment, the studio does not know what to do with this Star Trek saga. But not because it lacks proposals. Director Quentin Tarantino has already discussed his vision for a new installment. He described it as a Pulp Fiction from space. The film would be based on episode 17 of the second season of the original series. This project topping Chris Pine’s favorites list is scripted by Tarantino and Mark. L Smith. The screenwriter of El Renacido recently told SFX Magazine what they had in mind.
I wrote a Star Trek script with Tarantino. It was a science fiction story in which I could have fun and lean on even bigger things. Kirk is always very funny. Tarantino and I had a lot of fun with the character because Kirk is just William Shatner, you know? I don’t know who is who, so you lean on that. When you see Chris Pine playing Kirk he also plays William Shatner.
At the beginning of the year, Quentin Tarantino revealed that probably would not direct the project. But if the study decided to give the green light, it would be willing to return to give notes. Tarantino isn’t the only director interested in the future of Star Trek. Justin Lin, director of the third installment, wants to be in the fourth. A story that would include time travel and the return of Chris Hems-worth. In addition, in 2019 it was revealed that Noah Hawley would be in charge of directing the fourth For now, those who want to see Chris Pine on the big screen can do so with Wonder Woman 1984, released on December 18 in Spain.
