In early January, Cobra Kai will return to Netflix with its third season. In this new installment, Master Miyagi’s past will be explored.
Cobra Kai is very close to hitting Netflix with its third season. After a long wait, we will finally see how the rivalry between Johnny (William Zabka) and Daniel (Ralph Macchio) continues, but not everything we will see is about the present. The creators of the show revealed that we will also see more about Mr. Miyagi’s past that will allow us to see the original film in a new light.
During an interview, Cobra Kai creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald explained that one of the things that have them most excited about Season 3 is that they will narrate something we haven’t seen before about Mr. Miyagi. They did not specify how much we will see of the character, but it will be enough to see his interpretation in Karate Kid from a new perspective.
A hidden past…
“We will learn a little more about Mr. Miyagi. We should take a moment to talk about the incredible interpretation of Pat Morita, because the layers of that interpretation, that’s one of the things that when you watch the movie as a child and then you see it when you are older makes you realize how special it is. era ”, revealed the creators about this part of the character in Cobra Kai.
“Mr. Miyagi was a character with problems, with flaws, he had conflicts and he was not eager to train Daniel LaRusso in karate. The memories you have are of a warm relationship with Daniel and Miyagi, but in a sense, if you rewatch the Karate Kid and then rewatch the first episodes of Cobra Kai, there is a similarity between Johnny’s attitude towards Miguel. and Miyagi’s with Daniel. Those characters are in the same place in various ways. One of the things that I love about Season 3 is that we will be able to go more into the past of Miyagi karate and Mr. Miyagi himself. “
