Dwayne Johnson Kicks Off ‘Young Rock’ Filming

Star Dwayne Johnson begins filming on his Young Rock biopic series and shares the first pictures on set.

Dwayne Johnson or The Rock made his leap to fame thanks to wrestling. The now actor competed for years under the WWE and became a renowned star in the world. He did not want to waste his popularity only in wrestling and in 2001 he played the Scorpion King in Return of the Mummy. Despite his little acting experience, the potential was there. Now Dwayne Johnson is one of the highest-paid actors in the world. The Rock is involved in many projects today. His jump to DC with Black Adam, the sequel to Hobbs and Shaw, and the remake of the Scorpion King. But without a doubt one of the most important is his biopic, Young Rock.

The recordings of Young Rock have already STARTER in Queensland (Australia). The series will be produced by the NBC network. Now Johnson shares his first behind-the-scenes look with his fans. In one of the images shared on Instagram, the actor can be seen recording a scene. This would confirm that the actor will play himself and that at the same time he could serve as the narrator of the fiction piece.

Young Rock’s show-runner is Nahnatchka Khan, best known for her work on Fresh Off The Boat or the Netflix series Always Be Mine Maybe. Dwayne Johnson shares an image of the duo reviewing the script. Khan co-writes the series scripts with David Smithyman (Love, Victor) and Jeff Chiang (Fresh off the Boat). The Rock also shares what the experience of working with Khan is like.

We examine every word of each character because these are real people. The royal family is still present in my life and those that are no longer there. We have to be authentic and do it well. Dwayne Johnson was also in charge of communicating that Young Rock’s production is complying with all restrictions and guidelines against Coronavirus (COVID-19). The actor announced in September that he and his family had contracted the virus. But everything indicates that Johnson has been able to recover without major problem.

Young Rock will tell the story of Dwayne Johnson from his childhood. For this, the actor has already announced the actors who will be in charge of interpreting him in these different parts of his life. Adrian Groulx will play 10-year-old The Rock or Little Dewey, as Johnson introduced him to. Bradley Constant will be the Rock during his teens and Uli Latukefu during his college years as a football player. The rest of the cast who will play the family and people close to Johnson have also been chosen.

At the moment there is no exact release date. But the series is expected to arrive sometime in 2021. Without a doubt a piece of meta-fiction that will tell the most private details of the life of Dwayne Johnson.
