Friends: Fisher Stevens Issues Apology

The actor, who played Roger, Phoebe’s boyfriend in the first season, is very sure that the series does not remember him fondly, and regrets it.

‘Friends’ is pure television history. For the NBC sitcom, dozens of stars passed by making cameos but also lesser-known actors who played casual characters, some unforgettable  Some left a great memory (like Maggie Wheeler’s Janice) and others just the opposite.

However, it is usually those affected or the members of the team who speak of friction on the set. Rarely is the actor who “misbehaved” the one who says it openly, without anyone telling him anything about it and to apologize. That, at least, is to be welcomed and so has Fisher Stevens.

The actor played Roger, Phoebe’s boyfriend who was a psychiatrist and who wasn’t very nice on the show either. On PeopleTV’s Couch Surfing, the actor has expressed that he needs to apologize to the casting and crew for his behavior, apparently motivated by a rewrite of the script:

At that point in my career, I had never done a sitcom. I had never heard of ‘Friends’ because it was just the beginning of the show and I wasn’t watching much TV at the time. (On rewriting the script) That’s what sitcoms did but I didn’t know. I was an idiot, I have to admit: “What do you mean? So I have to relearn the lines you wrote, which are worse than the ones you originally wrote?” Yes, he was an idiot.

In fact, Stevens wanted to apologize directly to the main cast, Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer: “Yeah, sorry guys. I’m sorry I was an idiot to all of you. I apologize, it was bad, it was bad. “
