HARRY POTTER: CONFIRMED REMAKE WITH TIMOTHÉE CHALAMET IN THE CAST
What news! Warner Bros. is already preparing a new adaptation of the magical saga, and there are already some confirmed names.
Chalamet is only the first confirmation, but other big names are already ringing to appear in this unexpected remake.
10 improvised moments from the Harry Potter saga.
Fans, draw wands, and contained emotion: Harry Potter returns to the big screen! After creating an iconic film series starring Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, Warner Bros. is already preparing a new adaptation with new actors (this time, North Americans) and the ambition to surpass its predecessor. And from what the confirmed cast members point out, it looks like this will be the most anticipated project of the next few years.
The new ‘Harry Potter’ wants to get as far away as possible from the vision of JK Rowling (“that-who-should-not-be-named” after her transphobic comments) and create a new story with the characters we already know. For example, they will no longer start as young first-year students learning to use their wand, but adolescents with revolutionized hormones in the style of ‘Elite’ (the Netflix series was cited as a reference) and much darker and adult conflicts. Without losing sight of, of course, all the mythology that surrounds the character, from Voldemort as an archnemesis to the always precarious situation of the Defense Against the Dark Arts teachers.
The first official confirmation in the cast of the Harry Potter remake is surprising:
Timothée Chalamet, the star of the upcoming ‘Dune’, will take on the tough task of replacing Radcliffe as “the boy who survived.” A brave choice on the part of the actor, and one that could increase (even more) his incredible popularity. Who could accompany you in this task? Some names are already ringing for their co-stars. To play Hermione Granger, all bets (according to sources close to the production) point to an old acquaintance of Chalamet, Saoirse Ronan, although the names of Jessie Buckley and Zendaya also ring. There aren’t that many names ringing for Ron Weasley yet, but we wouldn’t be surprised Caleb Landry Jones, an absolutely perfect replacement.
It is estimated that production could begin, if the coronavirus allows it, in mid-2021, when the entire official cast will have already been announced, as well as the director who will take charge of this monumental challenge of ‘rebooting’ the franchise. Now, if you are reading this and you have choked on breakfast, open your mobile and look at the calendar.
Is there something special about 2nd January in your culture? As an English person, this day means nothing to me.
