Paul Bettany talks about his future in the MCU after Wandavision.
After the events of Endgame, it is difficult to know what will happen to Vision in Wandavision, but Paul Bettany affirms that everything is possible.
In January 2021 Marvel Studios starts its Phase 4. A phase of the MCU that arrives with several delays due to the pandemic. The film of the Black Widow was going to be in charge of giving way to this new stage of the study. But finally it will be the series of the Scarlet Witch and Vision that does the honors. This opens on January 15, 2021, through Disney +. The series brings back Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch and Paul Bettany as Vision.
Following Vision’s death in Infinity War after Thanos snatched the soul gem from him, few expected this return. The previews of Scarlet Witch and Vision also don’t give many clues as to the reason behind their resurrection. It’s also unclear what happened to the character after the series. Paul Bettany does not anticipate giving spoilers but assures in an interview with SFX that everything can happen in Marvel. So we will have to wait for the series to end to draw conclusions.
“I’m not going to say anything about that. I love playing Vision. I would absolutely love to keep doing it in some way, kind, or form, possible in the universe. I love this character and I think, as you’ll see when you can see [the Scarlet Witch and Vision], anything is possible. We can break any kind of rule. It is a very rich form of storytelling and is full of opportunities to tell all kinds of different stories. I would love to continue and it has been the trip of my life ”.
Paul Bettany’s journey in the MCU began in 2008 with the first installment of Iron Man. Many years before becoming Vision, the actor voiced JARVIS, Tony Stark’s artificial intelligence system. In 2015 he appeared as Vision after the first time in Avengers: Age of Ultron. His time at Marvel Studios seemed to end after his death in Infinity War. But as Paul Bettany makes clear, anything could happen during Scarlet Witch and Vision.
Unlike Paul Bettany, the future of his partner Elizabeth Olsen in the MCU is a bit clearer. After the series, the actress will appear in the second installment of Doctor Strange. Wanda Maximoff is a very powerful character in the comics, but we haven’t seen her full potential on the big screen yet. Elizabeth Olsen claims that this series is the perfect opportunity for the Scarlet Witch to show her full potential.
“I’m very excited for the fans because I think that if they know about the Scarlet Witch in the comics, I think this series is going to excite them a lot. The series will explore why she is known as the Scarlet Witch and how she is the Scarlet Witch as opposed to Wanda. We always refer to her as Wanda in the movies, so it’s an exciting opportunity. ”
The Scarlet Witch and Vision premieres on January 15, 2021, on Disney +. On January 8, Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen will be responsible for launching Marvel Studios: Legends, the series that explores the best moments of the MCU.
