Actor Jared Leto plays Morbius, Marvel’s living vampire in a fast-paced action movie.
Jared Leto has recorded a special message in the trailer for Japan film Morbius of Sony and describes his character as “exciting role in an expanding universe” .
Set in the universe of Marvel characters from Sony Pictures related to Spider-Man, the new film from director Daniel Espinosa (Safe House, Life) is starring Michael Morbius (Jared Leto) who becomes a vampire living after using a science experimental to cure his blood disease. To curb his new and overwhelming thirst for blood he decides to take down the criminals, but this makes him a target for the relentless FBI agents Alberto Rodríguez (Al Madrigal) and Simon Stroud (Tyrese Gibson).
This is how Jared Leto described Morbius: “He is quite a complex character. That’s what really appealed to me. He is a guy who was born with this horrible disease and he is truly a talented person. When I was young, I was very curious about science and medicine. That is why he decided to dedicate his life to finding a cure for the disease he suffers and others like him too. But on the way, all hell breaks loose.
After being cursed (or blessed) with superhuman abilities, he confesses that he “feels more alive than ever.”
“There is a line in the movie where Morbius says that he has been dying all his life and now he feels more alive than ever. I think that sums it up, ”said Jared Leto. “Here is someone who has been affected by this horrible disease and has had all kinds of challenges and has been searching for this cure. And then all of a sudden he has this power and this physical strength, which is incredible, but there is a change as well. ”
“There is a dark side. So that battle between light and dark is something that he fights throughout the film.”
