Joaquin Phoenix could star in ‘ Beau is Afraid ‘, the new film by Ari Aster, an essential name in the wonderful moment that contemporary horror cinema is experiencing.
According to different North American media (after the news of Discussing Film ), Phoenix is negotiating its participation in the film of which, until now, only some details of its plot are known, a proposal that they say, is part of surrealist terror to introduce us to an ” extremely distraught but pleasant-looking man named Beau who has a strained relationship with his overbearing mother due to the absence of a father he never knew.
“Beau learns of his mother’s death under mysterious circumstances and, while traveling home, makes an alarming discovery about his past. During his journey, he encounters several crazy supernatural threats.”
All part of ‘ Beau ‘ (2011), an intriguing short of just 7 minutes in which Aster showed that he was ready to go to the big leagues, something he undoubtedly achieved with his 2018 premiere with ‘ Hereditary ‘ and which he confirmed a year later with ‘ Midsommar ‘, a psychotronic journey to the center of folk horror.
As for Phoenix, still hungover after the Oscar for ‘Joker’ (Todd Phillips, 2019), he currently has ‘ C’mon C’mon ‘ (Mike Mills), ‘ My Darling Vivian ‘ (Matt Riddlehoover), and The sequel to his award-winning story about the clown prince of crime, if no one remedies it.
