A number of new stars have been added to the impressive cast of Netflix’s upcoming Matilda the Musical. This project is considered to be comprised of the likes of Love Actually’s Dame Emma Thompson as Miss Trunchbull and No time to Die’s Lashana Lynch who would be featuring as Miss Honey.
Matilda’s cruel parents also have a major role to play and thus Line of Duty’s Stephen Graham and Black Mirror’s Andrea Riseborough would be joining the cast for the respective roles as Mr and Mrs Wormwood. In addition to that, Sindhu Vee is also considered to be in as the librarian Mrs. Phelps.
In the 1996 movie that was based on the Roald Dahl classic, we witnessed the Wormwoods which were famously played by Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman, also whose direction was provided by DeVito. Additionally, Alisha Weir will be taking on the titular role in the new movie that would centered around Matilda’s magical abilities.
She uses her superficial powers to over the bullies and in the process, she ends up building quite a strong bond with her kindly teacher, Honey. The release date of Matilda is yet to come out. The showrunners have been tight-lipped about the recent developments of the project.
However, we do know that the show is all set to be in cinemas from Sony before it would show its first glimpse to the viewers of Netflix. The movie would be adapted from the original musical featuring songs by Tim Minchin whose direction will be provided by Matthew Warchus.
