It’s official! Actor Mads Mikkelsen will play Grindelwald in the movie Fantastic Beasts 3, replacing Johnny Depp.
Some time ago Warner Bros and Johnny Depp reached an agreement for the actor to leave the movie Fantastic Beasts 3. Therefore the role of the villain Grindelwald had become vacant. After some rumors and complaints from fans, they have already decided who will be their replacement. It’s about actor Mads Mikkelsen, so we can assure you that the role is in good hands.
Actor Mads Mikkelsen is specializing in appearing in the big franchises. He may always be remembered for playing Hannibal Lecter in the television series, but it must be remembered that he has participated in sagas such as James Bond in Casino Royale (2006), Star Wars in the movie Rogue One (2016), or Marvel Studios where he played to the villain of Doctor Strange (2016). Now he will make the jump to Harry Potter. So you only have DC Comics to round off a tremendous filmography, which would be the envy of any Hollywood actor.
Plus Mads Mikkelsen has some very cool new projects like the sci-fi movie Chaos Walking and The Billion Dollar Spy, based on a true story from the last year of the Cold War.
For now, Fantastic Beasts 3 does not yet have an official title, but it is already filming in London. Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Jude Law, and Ezra Miller will reprise their respective roles from previous installments, with David Yates behind the camera. So we will probably soon see if Mads Mikkelsen will look similar to Johnny Depp in the movie, or will simply change Grindelwald’s face with a stroke of magic.
