Marvel Studios has long been planning the epic return of The Fantastic Four and it has been made official that they will have their own movie.
When Disney bought FOX, they took back the film rights to The Fantastic Four and the X-Men. Since that time, it has been speculated when we would see Mr. Fantastic, the invisible woman, the human torch, and the thing again in the movies since they were characters much easier to introduce into Marvel Studios than mutants. Now they have confirmed the film and also its director, who will be Jon Watts, who until now had been in charge of the Spider-Man films.
Since no details of the plot or cast were revealed, nor was a screenwriter announced, it is unclear how exactly the Watts Fantastic Four movie will unfold. However, based on Marvel Studio’s history, it will likely have nothing to do with previous installments. Since it will be a reboot and it is not ruled out that they do not even explain its origin, as they already did with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.
The work of Jon Watts in the films Spider-Man has helped revive another franchise Marvel had previously been the subject of two series of completed films, so it seems uniquely qualified to address the Fantastic Four.
There is no release date yet.
Unfortunately, they have not confirmed when we can see the new Fantastic Four movie. Marvel Studios has a full lineup of movies scheduled for the next few years, so it will be some time until we see this movie. The chosen year will probably be 2023 or 2024.
Jon Watts is currently shooting the Spider-Man 3 movie and will not start preparing The Fantastic Four until it opens on Christmas 2021. That is why the filming of this new Marvel Studios installment will arrive at the earliest in 2022. While there will be much speculation about which actors will play the main characters. Currently, the best-placed are John Krasinski and his wife Emily Blunt to play Reed Richards and Sue Storm respectively.
