Ever since news of its revival, fans and cinema lovers have been constantly following the development of Matrix 4. Although filming was interrupted due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Village Roadshow Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures have resumed the production work in August 2020.
From the cast members who are set to reprise to their roles to newcomers to the development of the film, fans are keeping a track of everything. Therefore to further add up to the list of developments, we have some great news for you!
Daniel Bernhardt returns to the Matrix franchise:
All set to bust out his killer martial art moves and extensive fight scenes on a moving bus, Agent Johnson is back! First, to appear in the second installment of the film, The Matrix Reloaded, Johnson is played by Swiss actor Daniel Bernhardt.
Although he only appeared once, his epic fight scene with Neo and Morpheus whilst saving the Keymaker is one of the highlights of The Matrix Reloaded. Agent Johnson’s return marks a very important plot detail that computer programs under the guise of government agents will continue to be a foil to Neo and Trinity.
Also a martial artist and stuntman, Bernhardt then went on to star in notable films such as Parker (2013), The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013), John Wick (2014), Logan (2017), Atomic Blonde (2017), Hobbs & Shaw (2019), Birds of Prey (2020), etc.
Other Matrix 4 Cast Members:
Keanu Reeves, Carrie Ann Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Lambert Wilson are among the original cast members from the Matrix franchise who will reprise their roles as Neo, Trinity, Niobe, and The Merovingian respectively apart from Bernhardt.
Newcomers who will join the cast of Matrix 4 are Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, Jessica Henwick, Toby Onwumere, Andrew Caldwell, Ellen Hollman, Max Riemelt, Eréndira Ibarra, and Brian J. Smith.
Due to scheduling issues, Hugo Weaving could not return as the antagonist, Agent Smith.
Matrix 4 Release:
Amusingly, the filming began under the code name ‘Project Ice Cream’ in San Francisco on February 4, 2020, to avoid leaking of vital information. P
Initially set to release on May 22, 2021; like many films that were delayed owing to the coronavirus pandemic, Matrix 4 too is now pushed for an April 1, 2022 release and is helmed by Lana Wachowski.
