Actor Oscar Isaac has been chosen to play the mythical Snake in the live-action adaptation of the Metal Gear Solid video game.
Oscar Isaac is in the prime of his career, after playing Poe Dameron in the new Star Wars trilogy, he will be in DUNE as Duke Leto Atreides. He has also been confirmed to give life to Marc Spector better known as Moon Knight in a Marvel Studios series that will be broadcast on Disney +. But as if this were not enough, it will also be Snake in the Metal Gear Solid movie.
The film based on the video game Metal Gear Solid directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island) is finally gaining some momentum with the casting of Oscar Isaac as Solid Snake. Based on the hit video game series created by Hideo Kojima, Roberts will work with a story from screenwriter Derek Connolly (Jurassic World: Dominion). The project had been stopped for a long time, but with the signing of Oscar Isaac, we hope it will soon have an official release date.
A long-awaited adaptation…
The franchise launched in 1987 and later became a large part of the PlayStation brand. Known for its cinematic qualities, fans have long waited for the series to hit the big screen. That is why many actors have been related to Snake and surely Oscar Isaac can give him his own nuances.
At the moment there are few details on the plot of the Metal Gear Solid adaptation, but surely Oscar Isaac will play a soldier who infiltrates a nuclear weapons facility to neutralize the terrorist threat from FOXHOUND, a renegade special forces unit. Snake’s priority is freeing the hostages and preventing the terrorists from launching a nuclear attack. Therefore, you must save the world.
As Oscar Isaac has a very tight schedule, it is unclear when filming will begin, but Metal Gear Solid is believed to be a priority for Sony Pictures. That’s not too surprising though, as the potential for the franchise is huge. Especially if the fans who have been with the video game for years like it.
