PANAMA CITY — The civil aviation authority in Panama reported Friday that it would prolong the suspension of foreign flights for another month as a consequence of the coronavirus outbreak.
The additional month of suspended flights will begin on 22 July, according to a release from the civil aviation authority.
International flights were halted for the first time in March when the outbreak of the virus forced the authorities to implement steps to help control it.
The Tocumen country airport is a hub for Panama-based Copa Airlines, which, like other carriers, has been hard hit by the pandemic.a
As of Friday, Panama recorded 51,408 cumulative coronavirus cases and 1,038 deaths.
