The actor from Game of Thrones and Avengers: Infinity War, Peter Dinklage, will make a remake of the cult film The Toxic Avenger.
Peter Dinklage became known to the general public by playing Tyrion Lannister on the HBO series Game of Thrones. Then he has participated in films such as X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) playing Bolivar Trask, Avengers: Infinity War (2018) as Eitri, Pixels (2015) as Eddie, and Three advertisements on the outskirts (2017) as James. Now he will star in the reboot of The Toxic Avenger.
The Toxic Avenger was released in 1984 and is from independent studio Troma Entertainment. Since its first appearance, it has achieved cult status with several sequels, a comic book series, and even a children’s animation show called The Toxic Crusaders. Probably with Peter Dinklage as the protagonist they will have a little more budget than on previous occasions.
The directors of the original Toxic Avenger were Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, they will be on the project as producers. Macon Blair, responsible for the film I no longer feel comfortable in this world (2017), is ready to direct.
What was the original movie about?
A fictional city called Tormaville is in charge of managing the country’s waste, which is why it is full of toxic garbage and criminals. The protagonist is Melvin (Mitchell Cohen), who works in a gym as a maintenance worker. After some bullies mess with him, he falls into a barrel full of toxic products that instead of killing him, disfigures him while giving him powers. So he will take revenge on all those who do evil in his city.
Probably the new version of Peter Dinklage will have a similar story as the protagonist will be pushed into an area with toxic waste that will transform him into a mutant monster that must go from a rejected outcast to a helpless hero while running to save his son, to your friends and your community from the forces of corruption and greed.
