2021 might be the year for Marvel fans
With next to none releases from Marvel or in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or just about anything close to Marvel, 2020 has been a dry year for the fans.
Ragnarok may not be the critic’s go-to fantasy drama but just like the Gods who are answerable to no one, neither is Netflix. In this Norwegian Norse Mythological fantasy drama; Chris Hemsworth is swapped out for a teenage boy, who is on a quest of self-discovery and becoming one with the fact that he is an embodiment of Thor.
And thanks to the massive viewership ratings Ragnarok has officially been renewed for a second season.
Release:
While fans wait for Thor: Love and Thunder that will hit the screens in 2022, this Norwegian Netflix original is here to give you your Norse mythology fix. Since Netflix solely relies on the success among its viewers, it was a matter of time for the series to get a renewal.
Given that the first season consisted of only 6 episodes, hopefully, the upcoming season will see a couple more episodes added to the lineup. With increased filming and production time, the second season of the show is likely to appear on your digital screens by spring 2021.
However, if Netflix sticks to its current format of 6 episodes per season, the series will likely appear by late winter.
Although the deciding factor for the production of the next season will be how the crew manages to film under safety guidelines and precautions to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Ragnarok will not be the only series that has suffered due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Many films, tv-series and other programs have been delayed until the situation normalizes.

Plot:
This Norwegian teen fantasy that takes place in the fictional town of Edda in Hordaland, Western Norway puts a modern twist on the Norse mythology.
The series focuses on the legend of a battle between the Gods and the Giants. When the Seier family moves in the town, all eyes are on the brothers who the elders believe have super strength and connection to the sudden climate change causing the glaciers to melt.
The second season of Ragnarok will follow events after the finale where Magne and Vidar clash in an epic battle.
