After confirming the main cast of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings , today the synopsis of the film directed by Destin Cretton was revealed.
Today we have been able to know new details of the plot of Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings directed by Destin Cretton and starring Simu Liu, the film will present the real Mandarin played by the legendary Asian actor Tony Leung after the false revelation of the villain in Iron Man 3.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings, officially announced at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, began production earlier this year. But shortly after filming began in Australia, production had to stop due to the coronavirus pandemic. But once filming could be safely resumed, it ended its production quietly last October without any positive case of the virus. At this point, it was only confirmed that Liu, Leung, and Akwafina would be starring in the film, but during the Marvel Studios presentation at Disney Investor Day held recently, Michelle Yeoh’s participation as Jiang Nan has also been confirmed.
Aside from the main characters, Marvel Studios also released the first official synopsis for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. As posted on Marvel.com, the film will see Shang-Chi confront her past after an encounter with the Ten Rings, the same terrorist group behind Tony Stark’s kidnapping in Iron Man. Shang-Chi must face the past that he thought he had left behind when he is drawn into the network of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.
It’s an interesting starting point for the MCU Shang-Chi arc, which follows the original material from the comics. The hero is an amazing martial arts fighter fighting his evil father Fu Manchu. Shang-Chi’s fighting skills were honed at the insistence of his father, as part of his preparation to be one of his main assassins, without anticipating that he would rebel against his wishes.
Due to the complexity of the character rights, Marvel cannot use Fu Manchu even in the comics, but being an integral part of the movie arc, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings would have to find one. way to approach its dynamics without using the character. So Wenwu alias the Mandarin character played by Tony Leung would be called to play the role that Fu Manchu has in the comics, something that would confirm his new plot synopsis. Perhaps after Shang-Chi refused to follow his father’s orders, he decided to leave and lead his own life only to be bound again after an encounter with the Ten Rings.
This also effectively links the Ten Rings to history. The group of villains has been in the MCU since its inception, but after Tony Stark’s failed kidnapping, they have operated mostly in the shadows. The confirmation in Marvel’s one-shot “ All Hail the King” confirmed that the true Mandarin exists, making his Ten Rings a threat that just waits for the perfect moment to strike. With the release date of Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings approaching, it’s safe to expect more details on the film.
