In addition to confirming the return of Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige confirms the return of a forgotten MCU villain in She-Hulk.

Yesterday, the day Kevin Feige announced about the near future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the president of the studio confirmed the return of Tim Roth to play Abomination in the Disney + series She-Hulk, more than a decade after his debut in The Incredible Hulk.

In the early days of the MCU, Marvel Studios attempted to launch a franchise starring the Hulk at Universal Pictures with Edward Norton as the green giant. A sequel could never be made after the sale of Marvel Studios to Disney, to that was added the fact of the differences that arose between Edward Norton and Marvel, and the studio decided to dispense with the actor and reformulate the role to turn Mark Ruffalo into the new Bruce Banner. That left all the plans for the sequels and secondary characters out of the plans of the new Marvel cinematic universe that was beginning to take hold.

This included Emil Blonsky aka Abomination, a character who was defeated by the Hulk at the end of the film and later mentioned by one of Marvel’s One-Shots as being locked up in a SHIELD facility but was never mentioned again. However, there has been some hope that this will change with Marvel Studios planning for the She-Hulk series starring Tatiana Maslany. The possibility of including characters from the Hulk universe is now materializing.

During Disney Investor Day 2020, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed some of the cast of She-Hulk. In addition to confirming a secret known to voices as the signing of Tatiana Maslany to give life to Jennifer Walters and the return of Mark Ruffalo, but so was the long-awaited return of Tim Roth to the UCM.

Tim Roth’s return as an Abomination in She-Hulk makes him the second main cast member of The Incredible Hulk to appear on a future MCU property. No one returned during the first two phases, but William Hurt did it to bring Thunderbolt Ross back in Phase 3. He appeared in three films and will also appear in Black Widow in 2021. Hurt is rumored to also appear in She-Hulk alongside Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, but neither of them is confirmed. For now, Roth is the only actor from that movie to officially return for the Disney + series.

Since so much time has passed in the real world and in the MCU between appearances of Abomination, She-Hulk will be able to present it under a new design. The show could see Jennifer Walters have to fight some of the previous enemies. Perhaps they decide to bring back the leader as well, remember that in the Incredible Hulk Tim Blake Nelson was being configured, who played Samuel Sterns as the villain is known as The Leader, we had news of him in the Prelude to the Avengers comic, in the one we found out that Sterns was found by Natasha Romanoff, who had a brief dialogue with him, during which Sterns identified Romanoff’s birthplace based on the accent in his voice. Later, Sterns tried to bribe her, promising that he would help her return to Stalingrad and share his vision with hers,

The incident related to Sterns’ arrest was later referred to by SHIELD as “Project Mr. Blue,” in which they began to study his mutation. But like Blonsky, nothing more was heard from him.

We don’t know what happened to him after the fall of SHIELD, so Abomination might even be in Ross’s hands. Regardless, it will be fascinating to see what role Abomination plays in She-Hulk. after so long away from the MCU.
