In the absence of official confirmation, and with the help of Julia Quinn’s books, we talk about the future of the Netflix series.
‘The Bridgertons’ could take us in different directions in upcoming seasons.
Our review of ‘The Bridgertons’: When Jane Austen wrote ‘Gossip Girl’.
Fans of romantic period dramas are in luck with the arrival on Netflix of ‘ The Bridgertons ‘, the first series on the platform of the Shondaland production company (led by Shonda Rhimes, creator of series such as’ Grey’s Anatomy’ or ‘Scandal ‘) and created by Chris Van Dusen. Based on the beloved novels of Julia Quinn, the story takes us through the loving and existential affairs of the large Bridgerton family, with seven brothers and sisters navigating between their deepest desires and the destiny assigned to them by the British society of the mid-19th century.
This setting worthy of a Jane Austen novel meets one more ‘Gossip Girl’ plot: a mysterious anonymous woman, known as Lady Whistledown (voiced by Julie Andrews ), regularly publishes a gazette of gossip and the juiciest scandals of the London elite, and their revelations are not to be taken as a joke: they can leave a young woman with no options for a good marriage or ostracize an entire family. And, as we’ve seen, the young Bridgertons have no shortage of secrets under the rug. Released on Netflix on December 25, the first season of ‘The Bridgertons’ has become the gift of this Christmas.
Now that we’ve devoured those first eight episodes, it’s time to think ahead. Will there be a second season of the series? Netflix has yet to confirm it, but we have no doubts that the good news is coming soon. After all, the series is being a success on the platform and has received very positive reviews. In addition, we have seen that in Production Weekly they already place it on the 2021 calendar, with its filming starting next March in Uxbridge, in England. So where will history take us now?
‘The Bridgertons’, season 2: Whom will we see in the cast?
We are waiting for you all! As we told a moment ago, Anthony ( Jonathan Bailey ), the first-born of the family, will probably be the protagonist of the second season, so his return is assured. But it is impossible for him to do it without his beloved family: Benedict ( Luke Thompson ), Daphne ( Phoebe Dynevor ) and Simon ( Regé Jean-Page ), Eloise ( Claudia Jessie ) and the little ones of the house Francesca ( Ruby Stokes ), Gregory ( Will Tilston ) and Hyacinth ( Florence Hunt ). Not forgetting, of course, the Bridgerton matriarch ( Ruth Gemmell ).
The only one in the family who could be questioned is Colin ( Luke Newton ), who at the end of the first season we saw go around the world, although we have no doubt that at some point he will return from his travels to rekindle Penelope Featherington’s ( Nicola Coughlan ) love for him. We also look forward to continuing to see the elegance of Lady Danbury ( Adjoa Andoh ) and the funny whims of Queen Charlotte ( Golda Rosheuvel ).

‘The Bridgertons’, season 2: When will it be released?
We do not know yet, but we bet that within a year, at Christmas 2021, we could see the premiere of the second season of ‘The Bridgertons’ located. Another awesome Christmas gift! As we said at the beginning, the filming of the new material begins in March, so it would not be unreasonable to place it already among the premieres of next year, if the coronavirus allows it. We will continue to inform you!
