The Last Of Us: Official HBO Synopsis Is Here!

The official synopsis of the series by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann makes it clear that it will be an adaptation of the first game.

Everything we know about the ‘The Last of Us’ series

‘The Last of Us’ is a video game that, in its two installments so far, has come closest in terms of narrative and performances to what we call a good movie or a good series. The decisions of its characters, challenging with respect to the player, moved away from the typical playable immersion to tell a personal, hard story that we were forced to live and understand. Tremendously complex characters, traumatic moments, and a lot of emotion and humanism are the signs of the Naughty Dog game that HBO is going to turn into a series.

The network just formalized the agreement and the team to bring the acclaimed story of Joel and Ellie to the small screen. Along with this, he has just confirmed that it will be the creator of the video game, Neil Druckmann, who will act as a writer and executive producer alongside Craig Mazin ( ‘Chernobyl’ ). Also in executive production will be Carolyn Strauss, who had previously participated in that role in both ‘Chernobyl’ and ‘Game of Thrones’.

But the main novelty is in the official synopsis:

The story takes place twenty years after the destruction of modern civilization. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to get Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts out as a small job soon turns into a brutal and heartbreaking journey, as both must traverse the United States and depend on each other to survive.

After much speculation about what the series would cover if it would be the first game, the second, or even the time between them, we are already clear that at least the first season will be a direct adaptation of the story of the first game. Many hope that this is finally the time a great video game makes the leap to the screen without crashing. Of course, he has all the willows to achieve it but we will still have to wait, since the production is at a very early stage and it is not known, among other things, who will play the protagonists.

Before there will come another adaptation of Naughty Dog, this time to the cinema. It will be ‘Uncharted’, starring Tom Holland and which does have its premiere in 2021.
