So this year this festival was conducted virtually under the direction of Joana Vicente. So in this festival different movie makers come up with their best works.
Most of these movies are of the Art genre. Some of these movies do fantastically well while others are not so good but even in that case a bit of talent is always visible there.
According to the people due to the covid-19 pandemic this year the festival was not as enjoyable as it was in the earlier times.
This year few numbers of people came to showcase their valuable works. This year only 50 movies were showcased making the least count of movies in the history of this film festival. The press conferences for the movies were conducted on the Zoom meeting app.
HISTORY OF THIS FESTIVAL
This festival was started late back in 1976 by Bill Marshall, Dusty Cohl, and Henk Van Der Kolk. The festival was liked and appreciated so much by the people that it took place every year.
The inaugural festival had an attendance of 35k people including filmmakers, actors and media people. Initially, the name of this festival was “Festival of Festival” but in 1978 it was changed to the “Toronto International Film Festival”.
The highest number of movies were showcased in year 1984 reaching to 460 movies. It is the most loved festival by the people. Often in the write-ups written by journals this festival is referred as a festival like no other.
