How many of my fellas eagerly keep waiting for the Oscar ceremony throughout the year, for those who do this, it was really tough to gulp down the decision of the Academy of Motion pictures Arts and Sciences when the announced that they will be pushing back.
The Oscar Ceremony of 2021 to the month of April with an extension to the eligibility window till February. This situation was taken pertaining to the recent Covid situation.
To be very frank, there were mixed reactions from the audiences. Somewhere really very saddened by the delay whereas others were happy.
The actual Idea behind the delay was to give filmmakers the time to finish and release their movies in theatres.
And, here is, why we should be bothered?
The answer is that with the April 25 ceremony date the Oscars have been delayed to a great extent movie theatre have already been considerable e hobbled for more than your due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic moreover public is more accurately getting a custom to watching movies at home and their list now includes all the big-budget titles too.
movie theatre chains are already on life support at how’s theatres do not see any chances of coming back therefore it is time for the Academy to use boosters bringing the teams of director’s back to make short films which would give a spike to the singularity of cinema. Another cause of tension is Netflix establishing domination over the market.
Moreover, there are films which has its release in late 2020 and early 2021 which have every right and every element that will get it nominated to the Oscars and the Academy willingly wants to give a chance to every such film.
Movies like Nomad land, One Night in Miami, The trial of Chicago, The Father, Hillbilly Elegy are all bests among their fields. They have unique storylines and beautifully designed characters. And all of them are well-deserving for Oscars.
Oscar voters have slowly and successfully expanded the parameters and the fields of what constitutes the best picture over the past decade and nominated the best among the best for each and every category.
Thus, to give every cinematographer a fair chance in being the best, The Academy has every right to delay the Oscars.
