At the Warner Bros movie studio, they have made a very interesting decision and prioritize HBO Max over movie theaters.
A few weeks ago it was announced that Wonder Woman 1984 would be released both in cinema and HBO Max in a decision that clearly favors the streaming service. Since Warner Bros aims to get more paid subscribers to match its big competitors that are Netflix, Apple +, Disney +, and Amazon Video.
Now the big question is whether the rest of the movie studios will do the same, but for now, it seems that they are waiting for the impact Wonder Woman 1984 has. Because if it is a success it could change everything, as far as the entertainment world is concerned.
These are the movies that will go to theaters and HBO Max at the same time.
Warner Bros has an intense 2021 since they will say goodbye to 2020 with Wonder Woman 1984 and then they will release:
The Suicide Squad
Matrix 4
Dune
Godzilla vs Kong
Space Jam: A New Legacy
Little things
Judas and the Black Messiah
Tom & jerry
Mortal Kombat
Those Who Wish Me Dead
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It
In The Heights
Reminiscence
The Many Saints of Newark
Without a doubt, there are some Warner Bros movies that are a true visual spectacle like Godzilla vs Kong, Matrix 4, DUNE, or The Suicide Squad that it will be a shame to have to watch directly in streaming. But perhaps it is a good decision so that at least they can continue making quality films.
Other non- Warner Bros movies like James Bond: No Time to Die could be released on a platform if a good deal comes along. It seems that Apple + was quite interested in getting this exclusive. So there is no wonder if more and more the offer is directed to streaming and more cinemas are closing because they can eat the entire market as a dynamic as the current one follows.
