How affiliate links work
From time to time we link to third-party products or services — for example, an exchange, broker or app. Some of these are affiliate links. If you click one and sign up or make a purchase, we may receive a commission. There is no extra cost to you; any commission is paid by the company, not added to your price.
Why we use them
Affiliate commissions are one of the ways we fund free, openly-accessible data and tools without putting them behind a paywall or harvesting and selling your personal information. They help keep our calculators and live data free for everyone.
What changes, and what doesn't
The simplest way to see our position is a straight list of what an affiliate link can and cannot affect:
| Does an affiliate link affect… | Answer |
|---|---|
| Whether we mention a product | No — coverage is an editorial decision |
| How we describe it | No — the same honest pros and cons |
| Where it ranks or appears | No — we never sort by commission |
| The price you pay | No — never more than going direct |
| Our editorial independence | No — see our ethics policy |
What it does not change
An affiliate relationship never determines whether we mention a product, how we describe it, or where it appears. We do not rank or recommend anything because it pays better. If we wouldn't tell a friend about it, we won't link it. This is part of our broader ethics policy.
Still not advice
The presence of an affiliate link is not a recommendation to buy any financial product, open any account, or invest in any asset. You should evaluate any product on its own merits and your own circumstances. Please read our disclaimer.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if a link is an affiliate link?
If you are ever unsure, email editor@marketcapitalize.com and we will tell you plainly. Any commission is paid by the company, never added to your price.
Does clicking an affiliate link cost me more?
No. The price you pay is exactly the same whether you use our link or go direct. Commissions come out of the company's margin, not your pocket.
Do affiliate deals change your rankings or reviews?
No. A commission never decides whether we mention a product, how we describe it, or where it appears. That independence is set out in our ethics policy.
